I can't really add too much that hasn't been said already - in that the Logitech V10 USB laptop speakers give out a very impressive sound for their size, but I will try. Especially in regards to DVD's, BBC iPlayer, streaming video and the likes...they really do make a HUGE difference. Even on decent brand laptops the sound can appear so weak that it sounds like the noises are coming out of an empty coca-cola can inside a cheap Aldi carrier bag - in fact especially so on expensive and very slim laptops as they simply don't have the space for decent sized speaker diaphragms. This is where USB laptop speakers like these come into their own. The aforementioned in-built speakers may be fine for browsing the web, playing a few Youtube clips and general day to day activities, but when you wish to appreciate some music or watch a movie etc, your ears deserve better.
With no AC cable/adapter to deal with, the Logitech V10 USB speakers are a dream come true for laptop/notebook owners. They're so compact, and the only cables involved are the one between the two speakers and the one connecting the right speaker to the USB socket. When you're done turning your laptop into a home cinema/hi-fi, you quickly unplug these cables and pack them away with the speakers in the supplied travel bag. Simple, quick and efficient - and perfect for taking with your laptop on holiday. My Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) added the relevant driver instantly, and automatically switched the speakers to the default device in the control panel (USB speakers like these bypass your sound card...effectively becoming your sound card for the duration you use them). When I unplug them, my sound card and in-built speakers switch back to the default devices, until the next time I use the Logitech speakers. Perfect...simple....efficient. The way computer peripheral use should be. Although in saying that, I did read somewhere that a small few users found that they had to lower the sample rate in the Logitech speakers properties (found in the 'sounds' section of the control panel in Windows), as they found a small few pops and clicks present in the audio stream over USB...apparently a common issue with audio over USB. That is not Logitech's fault, however, and as mine were fine on the default sample rate, I will not be deducting points for this. It must be down to different laptops/brands implementation of audio via USB.
The only reason I'm not giving these five shiny stars is because, on the first set I ordered, there was a slight but annoying vibration noise in the left speaker on bassy sounds....even on nominal volume levels (e.g. 10%). The right speaker never had the issue, so I knew it was a defect of some kind. Now I'm not sure where I read it, but I do remember reading another review elsewhere where someone found that one of the speakers had this issue...and even one review where both possibly had it (although that could have been from cranking the volume up beyond comfort levels), so I suspect a frequent manufacturing issue. Needless to say that Amazon quickly supplied me with a replacement pair, and I'm extremely pleased to report that both replacement speakers are fine...even when the volume is cranked up beyond my own personal comfort level (50-60%). Again, Amazon customer services prove to be without equal in the world of online shopping. They really are the best.
That's all I have to say on these. Other than I whole-heartedly recommend them to people pondering buying a pair. Best of luck in getting a good set....perhaps I was just unlucky.

These speakers are ideal for my use, small and compact with carry case as i travel a lot. The sound quality is good up to about 3/4 volume then they get distorted but in a small room they give perfect sound and are more than loud enough. I would recommend this item to friends.

I bought these speakers to use with my laptop on the strength of the reviews on this site and I was not disappointed. I don't know all the technical stuff about speakers so I can only say that if you want to listen to music on a laptop then, in my opinion, these speakers will not let you down. They will easily fill an average room of say four metres square with good quality sound. If you crank them them right up you will get distortion, but to be fair if that's what you want perhaps you should look at something else. Having said that they go loud enough to annoy the neighbours.......well you have to sometimes! At this price you could struggle to find speakers of this quality elswhere. Small and good looking - bit like Kylie Minogue but cheaper.
